Reintegration/Conjoint Therapy is ordered when children and adolescents resist or refuse to see their parent or a parent hasn’t been involved in the child’s life and now wishes to re-enter.
Reintegration may be wanted or not by a parent or child. Our team is experienced in the delicate nature of this issue.
In a safe therapeutic environment, we assess issues creating the refusal and work with each parent and child to confront and diminish the issues that created the relationship fracture.
Parents are supported in hearing their child’s perspective, acknowledging their own parental role in the current situation and apologizing to child and co-parent. We make recommendations that help parents be healthy and present.
When ready, we facilitate the child and parent going from office work out to fun places including the home, until the relationship is secure and robust.
In cases where the length of time with no contact has been under a year and there is no abuse, this Reintegration/Conjoint Therapy is often effective with positive sustaining results.
